A Cooking Show

In this oral assignment you are going to teach your friends how to cook or bake something!

Your own cooking show!

What you practice:

• Food related vocabulary
• Pronunciation
• Giving instructions
• Speaking in front of a group of people

What to do:

• Work through the section Food in Good Stuff. You must read and work with the texts and exercises on the green pages. If you have the time you work with the yellow pages. Read the texts and work with the exercises in the Workbook.
• Work with the extra papers I gave you to learn food related words. When you see a word you don’t understand, translate it and write it down.

• Find a recipe of something that you would like to tell your friends about. Translate the recipe into English.

• Prepare your cooking show! Make sure you know all the words you’ll need and how you’re going to present it. Maybe you need to write a script.

• Write down a plan and hand it in to me, how are you going to present your cooking show and what are the steps you are going to take?

Presentation:

How are you going to present this? You can choose between:

• Record your own cooking show and show to class. You can use a smartphone for this, but remember to check the sound so that we can hear you! It’s OK to work in couples, but remember that you must both be active and speak English.

• Prepare a live cooking show where you show the class how to cook/something. Use real or fake ingredients!

• Talk only to me, or with a small group of people and present your cooking/baking.

Remember to practice a lot so that you can present your recipe without having to read out loud from a paper.

Time plan:

Week 16: presentation of the assignment, create your plan

Week 17+18: prepare and record your cooking show

Week 19: Deadline 4 may
