In this course we are going to focus on school systems and living conditions in english speaking countries.

Purpose:
Teaching in English should essentially give pupils the opportunities to develop their ability to:
* understand and interpret the content of spoken English and in different types of texts,
* express themselves and communicate in speech and writing,
choose texts and spoken language from different media and with some relevance use the selected material in their own production and interaction.
* use language strategies to understand and make themselves understood,
* adapt language for different purposes, recipients and contexts, and
* reflect over living conditions, social and cultural phenomena in different contexts and parts of the world where English is used.
Goal:
To learn more about different school systems
To gain a better understanding of the way teenagers live in countries in the English speaking world
Instruction and assignment:
This course consists of two different assignments.
We are going to
compare education between Sweden and an English speaking country like the UK, USA, Canada, India or Australia
compare the way teenagers live to our way of living here in Sweden.
Part 1, School system (four lessons including presentation)
You are going to give a presentation about a school system in small groups. Information from three different sources in English are required. Välja och använda material, formulera sig i tal, formulera sig anpassat.
In your presentation you are to attend to the following questions:
The school system.
The grading system.
The organization of the school such as timetable, subjects, school year, meals.
Possible costs.
Own reflections over school conditions in the country you have chosen compared to our school.

Part 2, A Teenager's Life in Sweden (two lessons)
You are going to compare your life to a teenager living in an english speaking country. You are going to read a text and watch videos and then write a text where you talk about your life and reflect on the differences and similarities you find. Diskutera och jämföra
