Multiculturism

We will talk about diffrent cultures around the world, and multiculturism is the heart of IPS ideology. "To acquaint children with diversity and increase their acceptance of dissimilar cultures. To equip them with a strong foundation of knowledge within a multicultural microcosm and prepare them to become better world citizens." - Lisa Ferrazzoli

Why-

We want children to understand that all of us come from diffrent countries and we all live as a family in this world. Therefore we needed to create an environment that each and everyone respected and treated equally. We want the children to understand the world! Geography, nature, climate, sustainability, cultural differences and similarities plus everyone's equal worth shall incuse the children's learning processes.

Varför- Vi vill att barn ska förstå att vi alla kommer från olika länder och att vi alla lever som en familj i den här världen. Därför behövde vi skapa en miljö som alla respekterade och behandlade lika. Vi vill att barnen ska förstå världen! Geografi, natur, klimat, hållbarhet, kulturella skillnader och likheter plus allas lika värde ska stimulera barnens inlärningsprocesser.

 

 

How-

*Introduce and explain to the children that we all from the diffrent parts of the world, but we all have same happy, sad, angry, etc. feelings.

*Discuss diffrent types of eating habits/food, types of housing, types of weather, clothing, transportation, languages, etc.

*We all look diffrent with skin color, gender, religion, etc, but we all humans and needed to be treated equally and the respectable way.

*Talked about countries that we comes from, the teachers and the children in the group.

*Invite other teachers in the building to do presentations about their countries.

På vilket sätt-

* Presentera och förklara för barnen att vi alla från olika delar av världen, men vi har alla samma glada, ledsna, arga, etc. känslor. * Diskutera olika typer av matvanor / mat, typer av bostäder, typer av väder, kläder, transport, språk etc. * Vi ser alla annorlunda ut med hudfärg, kön, religion, etc, men vi alla människor och behövde behandlas lika och på ett respektabelt sätt. * Pratade om länder som vi kommer från, lärarna och barnen i gruppen. * Be andra lärare i byggnaden att hålla presentationer om sina länder.
