Compare and contrast essay

You are going to write a “compare and contrast essay” where you will focus on a particular issue/topic from two perspectives. These two perspectives will be to compare the issue/topic in Sweden with an English-speaking country. Maybe you want to compare being a teenager in Sweden and the U.S? Or maybe you want to compare the city-life, minorities, political systems, effects from the world wars. It is entirely up to you!

Use English sources, and English only! You can use articles or interviews, but I want you to make sure you are using sources that will expand your abilities. However, when it comes to you finding information about the topic in Sweden, it can sometimes be okay to use Swedish sources. Just check with me first.

 

1. Plan your subject, what to investigate and what goal to reach.
2. Start your list of references (ENGLISH) make sure you use good references 
3. Add a wordlist of 15-25 words. 
4. Length: 500-1000words
5. Include at-least 3 sources
6. Include source-criticism.

 

Paraphrase: rewrite the information in your own words.

Quotation: word by word taken from the original source, use quotation mark and direct reference to source (if a book use pagenumber).

Referring to sources: "according to..., "...states..." "...indicates...", "...expresses..."
