A comparison of youth cultures

You are going to write a text in which you compare aspects of what it was like being young in the past  with what it is like being a teenager today. Work with the different youth cultures you have studied in SO.  

 Instructions:

• Choose one or a couple couple of youth cultures that have enough similarities and differences to be compared in a meaningful way with what it's like to be young today.

• Try to find at least two or three points of comparison that you can use. You can of course compare more things.

• It’s important that you include both similarities and differences in your text.

• In English-class we will only assess your use of English and if you make comparisons. 

 

• Write 450-550 words. Feel free to use pictures and other ways to illustrate the similarities and differences, and show what you are discussing and comparing in your text. 

Examples of things you can compare (points of comparison):

How they viewed:

social issues, war, peace, love, sex, music, clothing styles, hairstyles, parents, the older generations. 

Do you think teenagers were considered extreme or edgy in that time? In what way? Compare with how these things are viewed today. Would the same things be considered extreme now? Why/why not? If not, what is seen as extreme today? 

Du ska skriva en text på engelska i vilken du jämför olika aspekter (synvinklar), alltså hur man såg på saker och ting och hur det var att vara ung förr med hur det är att vara tonåring idag.

Instruktioner:

• Välj ut en ungdomskultur/ungdomsrörelse från förr som har tillräckligt många likheter och skillnader för att kunna jämföras med hur det är att vara ung idag.
• Försök hitta minst två eller tre olika saker du kan jämföra med idag. Det kan såklart vara fler.
• Ta med både likheter och skillnader
• I engelskan bedöms enbart det språkliga och om du gör jämförelser.
• Skriv 450-550 ord. Använd gärna bilder mm för att illustrera och exemplifiera det du skriver om i din text.

 

Olika sker du kan jämföra: synen på samhället, musik, kläder, frisyrer, synen på kärlek, sex, krig, fred, föräldrar och den äldre generationen. Tror du ungdomar på den tiden ansågs extrema av äldre. Varför?
