Listening: midterm test, final test, classroom interaction

Speaking (= muntlig framställning och interaktion): 2 book presentations, a presentation of the UK, and the final speaking test, as well as ALL classroom discussions

Writing (= skriftlig framställning och interaktion): a midterm test, 1 written book report/test, a factual text, the final test essay

Uppgifter

Write p. 23

1. Write 5-10 sentence about an old person you know.
2. Write another 5-10 sentences about a person you know very well (husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, mother/father, son/daughter).
3. Write about the sort of food you had when you were younger and compare it with the food you like to have nowadays. What is your favourite food now?

Write atleast 100 words.

Oral presentation - Cries from the heart

On Wednesday week 34, 24th of August you are going to present THREE of the short stories that you find the most interesting from Cries from the Heart to your classmates and teachers. It is and individual spoken presentation and your are requested to talk for 5-10 minutes.

In your presentation, you need to answer the following questions/do the following:

1. Summarize the plot of the short stories. What are they about? Why did you find these stories the most interesting?
2. Describe the different characters as well as you can. Do you like them? Why? Why not?
3. Where/what country does the story take place (=the setting)? Describe the place where the story takes place as well as you can.
4. What is the meaning of the stories, in your opinion?

Oral book presentation - The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency

Your oral presentation should be 5 minutes long and you should make a digital presentation that you show when you speak (Google presentation, PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.).

You may use supporting words, but you may not read out your presentation. You should be able to speak freely and tell stories.

You should tell about:

- What's the name of the book is.

- Who wrote the book.

- What kind of book it is (love story, crime novel, autobiography, etc.)

- The environment and the time in which the book takes place.

- The book's main characters.

- How the language of the book is.

- What you think of the book and why.

- Who would you recommend the book to.

Din muntliga presentation ska vara 5 minuter lång och du ska göra en digital presentation som du visar när du pratar (Google presentation, PowerPoint, Keynote etc.). DU SKA LÄMNA IN DIN DIGITALA PRESENTATION I DEN HÄR UPPGIFTEN!

Du får använda stödord, men du får inte läsa upp din presentation. Du ska kunna tala fritt och berätta.

Du ska berätta om:

vad boken heter.

vem som har skrivit boken.

vilken typ av bok det är (kärlekshistoria, kriminalroman, självbiografi etc.)

miljön och tiden som boken utspelar sig.

bokens huvudpersoner.

hur språket i boken är.

vad du tycker om boken och varför.

vem du skulle rekommendera boken till.

A. What does the barman in the text recommend that Fredrik and Ingrid must do while they are staying in Dublin? Write 4-5 sentences.

B. You are on holiday in Dublin. Write a postcard to friends or your family at home and tell them what you are doing.

With the help of the information in the text on pages 82 - 83, write 10 sentences to describe Babs, her home and her dog, her family, her job and her hobby.

Write about a pet you have now or one you had as a child. Or write about why you don't have a pet.

B. What do you think is good about the place where you live now? Write five sentences.

Cultural Studies

With the help of a text from the Stepping Stone textbook and - only if necessary - the Internet please prepare first: 1. a factual text (1-2 pages) and then, based on your factual text, 2. a short presentation (around 5 minutes) about ONE of the following topics:

Eating habits and traditional food in Britain (Unit 1, pp. 24-25)

Sports in Britain (Unit 2, pp. 40-41)

Schools in Britain and the US (Unit 3, pp. 60-62)

Thursday 11th August: Cries from the Heart

You are going to work with 2 stories from Cries from the Heart - read the stories, listen to the stories and then answer the questions below. Write a Google document and attach it here in Unikum.

A. The House, pp. 16-20.

1. Write about Sonny's background.

2. Who is Nan?

3. For whom are they building the house?

4. Why do you think that Sonny can't have a clean break with his ex-wife?

5. How did Sonny and Nan meet each other?

6. What happened to their relationship?

B. Dora's Turn, pp. 21-25

1. In which country does the story take place?

2. What do you know about Dora and Acayo? Describe them!

3. Who is Mad Tiger?

4. What is going to happen to Dora? Why?

5. What happens at the end of the story?

6. Dora tells Acayo that she has to kill her. Why?

7. Why do you think the story is called Dora's Turn?

8. Why do you think that Acayo asks Dora if she still wants to be a doctor? What happens when she asks this question?

9. Acayo took a great risk in trying to help Dora. Have you or someone you know ever taken a risk when trying to help another person? Explain!
